A Lot has changed.

...That's a phrase we're probably used to hearing by now. "Unprecedented," "these times," etc, etc, etc. But really. A TON has changed since last year, and most of us can easily say that some part of our lifestyle has been altered.

So what now?

That's what I've been asking myself since last year. Not just about this project, but about life. But now... I think I've finally found an opportunity. Suddenly, I have been given the freedom and acceptance, the encouragement and support that I've longed for during my Gold Award process.

I have been given the honor of being on the planning and implementation committee for Magnificat High School's Wellness Week, which is the week of March 8, 2021. In addition to activities like meditations, exercise, and Wellness Workshops during the week and Orange Theory on Saturday, there will also be a presentation on Social Media and its effects on teenagers in the Magnificat community... and the craziest part is - I AM THE PRESENTER!

...This means I will be able to reach a HUGE audience. It's a mandatory presentation during our advisory period on March 10 and I will be presenting live! You'd like to know how that happened, you say? Well... as I alluded to earlier, I finally found the support I needed! The Magnificat parent engagement coordinator (yes, that's her official title - and she's an English teacher), Mrs. Benni, is the head planner of Wellness Week (Mrs. Rutkowski, the school psychologist, is also helping). At our initial meeting, I just started spitting out any ideas that came to me. From the beginning, Mrs. Benni has been amazingly open to my ideas.

At last, I have a platform to not only reach a few hundred people but I also now have the opportunity to present the data I've been wanting to share since its collection last year. After that first meeting, I could not stop smiling; I am so grateful to actually be able to help so many people. The bottom line? I am THRILLED to have this opportunity and I cannot wait to see how my hard work pays off.
